If you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own! I’m always struck by people who think, “Well, it must be ‘cause I was just so smart!” There are a lot of smart people out there. “It must be because I worked harder than everybody else.” Let me tell you something: There are a whole bunch of hardworkin’ people out there. If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help.

When you’re president, as opposed to the head of a private equity firm, then your job is not simply to maximize profits. Your job is to figure out how everybody in the country has a fair shot… And so if your main argument for how to grow the economy is ‘I knew how to make a lot of money for investors,’ then you’re missing what this job is about.

I believe there are too many children who need loving parents to deny one group of people adoption rights. A child will benefit from a healthy, loving home, whether the parents are gay or not.
What has Obama done for LGBT Americans?
There’s still a LOT of stuff left to do, but damn we did get a lot of stuff done.
This is an example of why I get so frustrated with LGBTQ people who decided to vote Republican during the midterm election for the sole reason of President Obama not passing marriage equality nationwide. They ignored all the stuff he has done, all the progress he could still make, and decided to “teach him a lesson” by voting against him.
Think before you vote people. Come on now.

The transgendered community has to be protected. I just don’t have any tolerance for that sort of intolerance. And I think we need to legislate aggressively to protect them.
